National Conference on Magmatism, Metamorphism and Metallogeny
The Indian shield is an ensemble of several cratons and mobile belts which were formed, amalgamated, and broke-up during many cycles spanning a vast geologic time period. Magmatism, metamorphism, and metallogeny (MMM) associated with these largescale processes and their rock/mineral records provide an excellent opportunity to study geodynamic evolution of the Indian shield as well as to test plate/plume tectonic models. These are also topic of national interest considering the ever-increasing demand of the country for critical minerals and precious metals. Moreover, it is also imperative to look into the newer domains of exploration and come up with predictive models. The present conference is an endeavor to bring the seasoned as well as up and coming researchers involved in the igneous, metamorphic, and ore/economic geological processes onto a common platform and deliberate on the recent advances made.
The broad idea of the conference is to create a MMM studies group to engage young researchers and early career personals to present their findings annually/biannually and take it forward. As such there is no dedicated platform in the country for the young researchers working in these core areas of geosciences to periodically showcase their findings before their peers and gain feedback/guidance. One of the objectives behind this conference is to address this gap and to create such a forum wherein researches being carried out in the three 'M's (Magmatism, Metamorphism and Metallogeny) are presented, deliberated, and discussed at regular intervals.
